Ageless Walker is a nemesis from The New Age.
Overview[]
Ageless Walker uses a mechanic where cards can be exiled. When a card is exiled it is placed on top of a special 'exiled pile'. Players can (re)gain these cards by paying their cost plus 1
. Ageless Walker also causes the players' mages to age/decay rapidly, which is represented by a special Curse of Aging card that is added to each player's deck, causing damage when it is drawn.
Rules[]
Set Up[]
- Each player places a Curse of Aging card in their discard pile.
- Place a card from the most expensive supply pile faceup next to this mat. This card is the start of the exiled pile.
Additional Rules[]
- When a card is exiled, place it faceup on top of the exiled pile, even if the exiled pile is empty.
- Cards may be gained from the top of the exiled pile, as if it were a supply pile, by paying their cost plus 1
. - The players may look through the exiled pile at any time.
Unleash Effect[]
Any player exiles a card in hand or the top card of their discard pile.
Increased Difficulty[]
RULES: When a player resolves Curse of Aging they do not draw a card.

Strategy[]
- Ageless Walker primarily damages you by rotating your deck. The slower your deck comes to a full rotation, ie. the more cards you have, the less damage you suffer from Curse of Aging. It is a good idea to load up on cards, especially early on.
- Invest into permament bonuses, such as Soskel's Energize or Gygar's Ancient Breach, the Ageless Walker can't take those away.
- Relying on a few "big boom" expensive spells is not a good idea. There are many nemesis cards designed to discard or exile those. Using multiple cheaper spells and utilizing damage bonuses is a good idea (especially cheap Echo spells).
- Keep track of the card order in the Exiled deck. In case the nemesis forces you to exile a critically important card, be prepared to be able to buy it back.
- You can abuse the Exile - buyback mechanism to gain the unique starter cards of other mages for some interesting combinations.
- You can take advantage of the Exile mechanism midgame to ramp up damage at the cost Curse of Aging coming up more frequently.
- Be careful, once the nemesis reaches level 3 cards, your deck will rapidly dwindle. This can mean damage from Curse of Aging after every single player turn.
Lore[]
"Humans are not meant to mix with the magic of the Void. The followers of Xaxos play with powers beyond anyone's comprehension. The Ageless Walker was once a man named Karak, a devoted follower of Xaxos. He was a close friend of Arachnos, and submitted willingly to the ritual. He wanted to be infused with the strength of the Nameless, to gain their power. When the Void energy flowed into him, however, instead of making him stronger it began to waste away at his life. Arachnos heard the screaming, but refused to stop the ritual. He believe in his calculations above all else, assured of his own undeniable talent. The more Karak absorbed, the more he aged until nothing but bones were left. But the ritual did not stop with his death. He warped beyond that, becoming strange and monstrous, decaying and growing all at once. When the ritual finally concluded, Karak was gone, replaced by a creature that could only be described as a Nameless. Arachnos and the other followers were forced to flee from the monster they had created. Now the Ageless Walker seems to have no memory of being human. It kills indiscriminately, bringing death and decay wherever it walks."
