Aether

The symbol for Aether.

A Cost is the amount of Aether (Aether) that must be paid by a player to gain a card, charge, or resolve a nemesis power card. Supply cards display their cost in the top right corner of each card. Starter cards have a cost of 0 and cannot be bought like typical cards. To buy a supply card or charge, a player must play cards giving them enough Aether (Aether) to make the purchase that same turn. Aether (Aether) cannot be saved between turns or given to other players.

Charges[]

A player may spend 2 Aether during their main phase to gain one charge. This may be repeated any number of times, although a player may never have more charges then charge slots on their mage mat.

Nemesis Powers[]

A player may spend Aether during there main phase to discard a power card in play, if the power has a cost discard statement listed. For example, Doom AegisDoom Aegis may be discarded on a player's turn if that player spends 7 Aether. This cost cannot be shared among multiple players.

5 Cost[]

Firmly within midrange, 5-cost cards can provide many different effects. 5-cost gems are fairly high tiered, often giving 3 Aether.

6 Cost[]

6 Cost cards provide excellent effects. Card draw usually starts around this price point. 6 cost gems are the most expensive gems available from the supply.

7 Cost[]

7 Cost cards are the extremely powerful cards. There are no cost-7 gems, only spells and relics.

8 Cost[]
