Players, Gravehold, nemeses, and some minions have life. Except for players, all things with life are removed from the game when they run out of life. Life is tracked through either tokens or dials.

Tokens used to track the life of the players and minions

Life dials used to track the life of Gravehold and the nemesis.
Starting Life[]
- Players and Gravehold's starting life are determined by the game mode chosen by players at the start of the game.
- Nemeses have their starting life stated on the front of their mats, but are also modified by game modes.
- Minions have their starting life stated on the front of their cards and are not modified by game modes.
Players, Gravehold, and nemeses can never have more than their starting life.
Losing Life[]
When a target is dealt damage, remove life token values or dial total equal to the damage dealt.
- When a player's life reaches zero, that player is exhausted.
- When the life of a nemesis reaches zero, the players immediately win.
- When the life of a minion reaches zero, it is immediately placed in the nemesis discard pile.
