Mage Overview[]
Ohat and Ulgimor's Essence Breach |
Ohat and Ulgimor are a pair of beings fused together, and first appeared in War Eternal. While they function as one mage (played by one player), they have two modes which they flip between throughout the game, depending on their health. If they have 5 or greater life, they are is Ohat mode, but if they have 4 or less life, or are exhausted, they are in Ulgimor mode. Their starter card, Shower of Coals, splits its effects between these two modes. While in Ohat mode, Shower of Coals gives 2 while causing Ohat to suffer 1 damage. If in Ulgimor mode, the spell deals 3 damage instead.
Ohat and Ulgimor's special ability is also split between the two modes. Ohat suffers 2 damage and allows an ally to draw five cards and discard two. If in Ulgimor mode, the ability allows them to cast a spell from their IV Breach without discarding it. Ohat and Ulgimor's IV Breach is replaced with a special breach, the Essence Breach. When a spell is cast from the opened Essence Breach, the casting player gains 1 life. This breach serves as the primary way for Ohat and Ulgimor to heal, making it possible for Ulgimor to return to Ohat mode, by healing back above 4 life. When Ohat and Ulgimor are exhausted, then no exhaust effects are triggered, i.e. there are no two unleashes, no breach is destroyed and they keep their charges. Excess damage is still dealt times two to Gravehold. Furthermore Ohat and Ulgimor are able to heal even when exhausted.

Lore[]
"I've never fancied myself a survivor, but fate had other plans in mind for me. And when I say fate, I mean Ulgimor. Back in the day, before this fragment of the Umbra Titan stitched itself to my shadow, people called me a coward. I even called myself a coward. You can't fault me for being honest about it. I didn't have big plans for my life. Never aspired to be much more than what I was. A simple dirt merchant. I figured getting bound to Ulgimor would be the worst thing that would ever happen to me, but that was before the entire city was destroyed. Now I'm glad he was there, he pulled us both through that, sheltering me from the falling debris and keeping me moving. It's funny, you don't really get to know the horrifying shadow monster attached to your soul until you're stuck underground with it alone for decades. Then it becomes almost comforting. The last vestige of who you once were. But I like who I am now, who we are. Together. We're stronger when we cooperate. Only took being on my own to realize that." ― Ohat
